Let's face it, most people wouldn't consider gaffer tape the height of excitement. But for event management professionals, it's the unsung hero that keeps the party going. This case study delves into the surprisingly dramatic saga of DanceFloor You and their quest for the perfect adhesive soulmate. Spoiler alert: it involves a lot of tape, a few near-meltdowns, and a happily ever after.

The Challenge

It all began on May 23, 2023, when Pascual Tomasetti from DanceFloor You placed an order for 2” black gaffer tape, part #GTC12, directly at our facility in Miami. This tape is commonly used in the entertainment industry to cover up cables and any non-aesthetic equipment, ensuring a polished appearance for events.

Pascual intended to use the tape to cover the edges of the dancefloors and to run cables discreetly. However, after careful evaluation, he realized that the 2” wide tape did not meet his needs. The narrow width required multiple applications to ensure there were no gaps, which was inefficient and time-consuming. This was a critical obstacle that Tape Providers needed to address.

Identifying the Solution

To better understand the issue, Tape Providers decided to accompany Pascual on a dancefloor setup. This hands-on approach allowed us to observe where the tape was being applied and why it required multiple layers to be effective. Through this collaboration, we identified two key problems:

Developing the Solution

Together, we brainstormed and concluded that a custom width of 5.67” would be ideal. This width would provide enough coverage for the cables running in the middle while leaving some room on the edges to stick securely to the floor. The 5.67” gaffer tape would also be the perfect measurement to cover the dancefloor edges in one go, eliminating the need for multiple layers.

Tape Providers quickly got to work, custom-cutting the gaffer tape to the specified width. We ensured that the new tape maintained the same high quality and adhesive properties as our standard products.
