Product Description

PTFE FIBERGLASS CLOTH TAPE – 8.4 MIL

Alternative to: Various comparable industry products, including Uline S-17219 and S-17220; 3M 5453; DeWal 134-6; Saint-Gobain SG25-06; Greenbelt 100-6S; W.F. Lake L40S-6; Taconic 6085-06; Chemfab 350-6S; Lanmar 635-6; AFC 25006S, and more.

Commercial Grade PTFE-Coated Fiberglass Cloth Tape

This 8.4 mil PTFE fiberglass cloth tape is manufactured from woven fiberglass fabric consisting of warp and fill yarns. The fiberglass backing is impregnated with PTFE and coated with a high-temperature silicone adhesive, providing excellent electrical, mechanical, chemical, and thermal performance.

Its smooth PTFE-coated surface provides low friction, excellent release properties, abrasion resistance, and reliable performance in high-temperature environments. It is commonly used as a protective or insulating barrier on heat-sealing equipment, packaging machinery, electrical equipment, guide rails, chutes, rollers, bearing surfaces, tabletop covers, and other industrial components.

The reinforced fiberglass construction provides greater durability than thinner PTFE films, making it suitable for applications involving repeated heat exposure, abrasion, pressure, or mechanical wear.

With an operating temperature range of -100°F to 500°F (-73°C to 260°C), this tape is suitable for demanding industrial applications where heat resistance, chemical resistance, electrical insulation, and non-stick performance are required.

Available Product Constructions

PTFE-coated fiberglass materials are available in three different constructions. Select the option that best matches your application:

  • With Liner (WL): Includes a removable release liner that protects the silicone adhesive before installation. The liner allows for easier handling, precise positioning, converting, die-cutting, and application to large or complex surfaces.
  • Self Wound (SW): Includes silicone adhesive but does not include a release liner. The tape is wound directly onto itself, reducing packaging material and allowing faster application in wrapping, repair, and maintenance operations. The 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch widths are supplied self wound.
  • Without Adhesive (NA): PTFE-coated fiberglass fabric with no adhesive backing. This version is suitable for custom fabrication, release sheets, conveyor surfaces, curtains, covers, liners, gaskets, or applications where the material will be mechanically fastened or secured separately.
Construction Adhesive Release Liner Recommended Use
With Liner (WL) Yes Yes Precise installation, converting, die-cutting, and easier handling
Self Wound (SW) Yes No Fast application, wrapping, repairs, and machine maintenance
Without Adhesive (NA) No No Fabrication, liners, covers, release sheets, and mechanically secured applications

Please note: The adhesive and liner specifications shown below apply only to the With Liner and Self Wound tape versions. The Without Adhesive version does not include silicone adhesive.

Product Applications

  • Heat-sealing bars and impulse-sealing equipment
  • Vacuum-sealing and packaging machinery
  • Electrical insulation and equipment protection
  • Chute liners and guide rails
  • Roller and roll covering
  • Bearing and low-friction surfaces
  • Tabletop and work-surface covers
  • Gaskets and protective barriers
  • Composite bonding and flash breaking
  • Wire harnessing and cable insulation
  • Squeak and noise reduction
  • Protection of machinery from adhesive or material buildup

Heat-Sealing Equipment Applications

PTFE fiberglass cloth tape is commonly installed over or near heating elements to create a smooth, heat-resistant, non-stick barrier between the heating element and the material being sealed.

  • Helps prevent plastic bags, films, and packaging materials from sticking to heat-sealing surfaces
  • Helps protect heating elements and sealing bars from buildup and abrasion
  • May be installed over the wire on vacuum sealers or under the wire on certain impulse-sealing machines, depending on the equipment design
  • Suitable for many commercial, industrial, and household heat-sealing machines when the correct width and thickness are selected

Always confirm the required tape dimensions and installation method for your specific machine before ordering.
